Whether you’re a casual drinker or wine geek like me, I’ve got the perfect event for you.

At The Wine Service Trainer, we offer wine tasting in Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas – with a difference. Firstly, since we are not wine merchants there is no pressure to buy the wines; our focus is entirely on hosting a great wine tasting for you and your clients. Secondly, we aim to remove any preconceptions associated with wine, including snobbiness and pretension, and work to expand your wine language and confidence. Our wine tasting events normally last somewhere between 2 – 3 hours and if you’d like to learn more about wine in an informed but informal environment you can do so in one of two ways.

Attend an existing event

The first would be to attend one of our existing wine events that we hold in Hertfordshire and the surrounding counties, you can check our upcoming events here. These events normally last between 2 – 3 hours and are held at a variety of venues including but not limited to: The Lemon Tree in Bishops Stortford, The White Hart Hotel in Welwyn, Crockers Chef’s Table in Berkhamsted and The Bull in Watton at Stone. Typically these tastings will have a theme and involve tasting between 5 – 8 wines using our bespoke wine tasting sheets.

Host your own event

The second option would be to host a private wine tasting for your friends, family or even your business. For these wine tastings, we charge a flat fee for our time plus the cost of the wine. Since no two events are the same the cost of the wine can vary, however as a general rule we recommend serving between five and eight wines per event. However, most importantly, we are happy to create a bespoke quote for you depending on your budget and the type of event you’d like to host.

“Duncan gets the balance spot on. He is knowledgeable without being pretentious, and he educates in a fun way. I feel I learnt a great deal without feeling like I was being taught. It was a great evening with great company and a fantastic host.” Emma Fone

“Not only was it well organised and very interesting to learn about the look, smells, tastes of the wine, Duncan made it great fun as well. Wines that I normally wouldn’t buy for myself, I was surprised as to how much I liked them.” Hannah Alexander

“Not only did Duncan clearly know his wines inside out, but he displayed his knowledge in a fun, informative and unpretentious way. Thanks Duncan, I will of course be recommending you and will most certainly be looking to attend another of your events.” Ben Miller
